Can I buy an ultra-simple MTB?

Hi all

Is it possible to buy an ultra-simple MTB with a steel fork and v-brakes these days? I already have a Vitus Vee-1 which almost fits the bill, but it's single-speed and I need gears for transporting my two-year-old in her WeeRide! Don't really want to go second-hand as I'm not that great at the technical stuff.

There are tons of second hand bikes that are in very good condition though, simply because the owner switched to the more modern bike. There are plenty of high end used bikes with top of the line components that will not need more attention than any other bike.

Going for a new bike I'd opt for disc brakes, V brakes are good but if you're pulling a child in a trailer you'll want the best stoppers and discs are just so much better.
