I can confirm that it is possible because longers did it on one of my rides and nearly backed into me! He transitioned into it from a trackstand just as I caught up with the waiting group.

(I am so looking forward to a future forum ride of mine when I'm actually fit enough to one of the leading group waiting for stragglers at the top of a climb! )

No, I disqualified that feeble attempt because you were toppling sideways at the time; it only counts if you stay upright!
