Removing the cable should be a simple job - shift gear to put the chain on the smallest cog, disconnect the cable, pull the brake lever to expose the end of the cable and push the free end of the inner cable, which should push the nipple out through the lever.

Thanks for reply,I wish it were so simple.I have changed cables before, but this is first time on this lever. Its the left hand one and the nipple seems embedded so ther is nothing to get hold of.Ive tried pushing from the cable end but it won't budge. There is a shop that overhauls them, thats been mentioned on this site.but the name escapes me so anyone know who it is?Thanks anyway.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Here is one Campag Service. I think Mercian might also do repairs. I haven't used either of them myself so can't give any recommendation.
Brockers beat me to it!

Must be all the coffee I've drunk today! (The Campag Service Centre seems to be something to do with Downland Cycles in Canterbury. I've not used them but I know they're pretty meticulous about their fettling, and wouldn't hesitate to let them touch my bike/componentry should I not be able to sort the issue out myself.)
