Campag Record ultrashift bent levers

I just fitted some secondhand campag record ultrashift levers, actually only the one at the moment as I have not yet got my eight speed kit yet.

Anyway the left hand side has gone on OK, but it feels really turned inward, compared to the shimano on the other side. Is that just the way the levers are?

Also there is a crack where the brake cable feeds out from - I didnt realise this when I bought them - should I be worried? Do the housings crack?

I will take some pics later

thanks

Eight speed kit? UltraShift (if it is UltraShift, not 8s Ultra BB-system) are only made in 11s versions in model years 2009 - now and were available as 10s units 2009/10 - and neither will work with 8s.

If it's 8s Ultra BB-system be careful about the rear derailleur - not all Campagnolo 8s derailleurs will work with all 8s levers - some levers have been modified to work with later rear derailleurs, too, which causes even more confusion to the uninitiated.

If the lever body is cracked, bin it. If it fails, it could allow the lever to move on the bars and that could have all sorts of adverse consequences. I have seen lever bodies repaired but there's no way I'd do it - it's a liability possibility too far!
