Campag gear cable nipple stuck in changing lever

Snapped a gear cable the other day.
I usually push the cable to free the nipple from the lever end but on this one the cable has braoken right behind the nipple so I can't see any cable at all. I can see the top of the nipple but its seated in the recess and there's nothing to grab hold of. Any ideas for how to get it out?

If it's really stuck, drill a small hole in it, then put in a self-tapping screw, to give yourslf a handle to pull it out with pliers.

Just lift off the removable plastic cover directly above the recess.

I'll try the magnet idea but not too sure if it's magnetic.

I have lifted off the cover but still can see anything to push it out with.

Other plans are:

Duct tape and tasing it out with a Stanley knife blade.

I'll let you know how I got on.

Pliers! I can always (it's a PITA) eventually tease it out with pliers. Takes a bit of brute force.

Pin punch,the long,thin engineers one,not the short,tapered carpenters punch.Gently push by hand,gradually increasing pressure,or very gently tap with a small hammer.
