Hi
Sorry if this has already been posted.
I've recently been getting cut up & pulled out on at roundabouts & I am now considering getting a helmet cam & maybe a rear viewing frame cam but not sure where to start.

A little about my commute; I start out around 6am & travel 5miles from country roads to town roads (some cycle paths aswell) I then leave work at 5:30pm (still dark) & travel the same route (which is where I'm getting all the problems)

I have two Aldi bike lights facing forward & one rear light & also wear a high vis Altura jacket.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Your timings are expensive!

Many of the cheaper cameras are excluded due to poor low light performance

I will give you a couple of examples of what is happening as I do not believe it is my lights that are the problem.

2 weeks ago I'm heading home at lunch time on a long straightish road. 10 meters away there is a left turn. As I reach the turn (I'm heading straight on) I have a car from behind me, overtake & turn left causing me to do an emergency stop (drive just drove off & I couldn't get the number plate)

Then yesterday I'm going round a roundabout (taking 3rd exit) a car pulls out as I'm about to come off the roundabout & take the same exit as I was, again causing me to swerve. I saw the driver looking at the passenger not the road

Cameras will stop them from happening and the police may only be interested if it is a KSI incident.

Cameras won't stop the numpties unfortunately, maybe try and cycle a bit more defensively. Have a look at the guide to new commuters or whatever it is called on here. Very useful.

Try looking up 'Video Sunglasses' I have ordered on line - from Hong Kong ! Yeah! I know - but I've had a pair before -- they broke - sent them back ... crap after service but decided to go with another pair, another chance ... the quality for £ 30 ... was not bad, the picture was very good, even in low, low light. You will be talking to yourself as the journey cycles on, cos what I did was, if a car got too close, I would verbally speak the licence plate so if the vision wasn't that clear, I had a record if anything did happen.
Just have a look on line, and see what you think.

I've had friends speaking to me. aiming the conversation at my helmet torch thinking that was the camera, and when we played the video back to them, they had no idea the camera lens was in the middle of the glasses I had on. Reactions were funny, I can tell you.
Plus the glasses were clear, clean and eye protectors!! and they look cool on too.
