Pencil & paper?

For what purpose would you like a camera? Helmet cam, jersey pocket compact, massive DSLR?

the little Chinese copies(£20-30 or so) of the clip cams are ok in broad daylight but increasingly terrible once it starts to go dark, the mounts are also very flimsy & they're not waterproof.

Just flicking through a recent "What Camera" they recommend several compacts at less than a hundred quid. Nikon Coolpix S31(which is also waterproof), Panasonic Lumix XS1, Canon Ixus 132 & Samsung WB 30f (which has wi-fi and10x zoom). All should give you good clear point and shoot snaps. Most will shoot movies in HD. I bought a Sony RX100 which is truly fantastic but a bit pricey.

Do you really need one ?
If the answer is yes – will you bore us the the opening line – close pass, nearly taken out ect ect
why not spend the money on a nice saddle your bottom will thank you for it.

I think the OP is after a cheap camera to take along on rides and actually take pictures, and not a video cam for close passes etc.
But i could be wrong?

Thanks @Cycleops - had been looking for one under £100 myself

I bought an older one in a pawn shop, a Sony DSC H-70, all I need for cycling. Sometimes the older point and shoots can be bought cheap as others upgrade. Having been in the business, I like some brands like Canon, Sony, and Fuji, and avoid others in this realm of inexpensive cameras, like Kodak and Olympus. Look at Cnet for reviews on cameras. Their reviews go back quite a ways. http://reviews.cnet.com

I've heard the SJ2000 isn't as good as the 1000, but the SJ4000 looks pretty good (I hadn't realised it was available yet). I was considering getting a second SJ1000, but I think I'll get the new one instead.

Yeah I had a listen to the review by techmoan on the sj2000 and it didn't sound good but as you say the 4000 sounds very good . As far as ordering well here's the hard bit you could order from China but you'll get charged duty or you could order from the link below it £21 more but I think it'll work out cheaper that the China option

James check out techmoan.com review on keychain camera 808 #11 its dirt cheap and I think if your a fan or making videos of your ride it would serve as a great rear / frame camera
