I'm starting a CAMpaign Against Short Steerers on new bikes.
I propose that the industry standard for all MTB, Road and Hybrid bikes is 40mm of spacers at the point of sale (perhaps 30mm under the stem and 10mm on top).
This would give the customer plenty of scope to choose exactly how high they'd like their bars, and if need be, they could easily (and cheaply) get the steerer tube cut at a later date. Some companies already do this, but many don't!
