Here's a technical one for you experts out there. What do you call those little caps you crimp on the end of brake/gear cables. I am sure they are not ferrules, ferrules go over the housings. I gave myself an injection yesterday with the end of an unprotected cable and it blummin' hurt!

I went into that new bike shop in town this morning and he gave me about 10 crimps free of charge. They did a nice job of truing my wheel last week as well but not for free!

I use a short length of heat shrink tubing over the cable ends - saves a bit of weight ::P

Not the approved way but if I haven't got those things I just twist the end and use solder to keep the strands together.

Sympathise over the stabbing compo - those little wires are viscious.
