it will be a straight swap over though you may need a new chain for the extra teeth.

53/39t 110mm bcd rings are available - which means you do not even have to swap chainsets, just change the rings. Why do you want to swap, out of interest..??

The Ultegra rings are hollow section and 'sculptured to the chain set. You can either get a new chainset (and sell the compact) or you are going to have to hunt down some 'compatible' chain rings that don't look a mess. Praxis Works make replacements.

Probably cheaper buying a new chainset and selling on the old one.

i have a ultegra group set on a not as good frame and was thinking that i could swap the whole lot over , but some retailers are saying no it cant be done, one said i would need a insert and a new bb then it can be done , so i was getting confused as to what can be done
they also said i could'ent just change the rings ,
if i cant change the chain set , although you guys are saying that it can be done ,
can i just change the front and rear mech , brakes and shifters , will the chain set that it comes with be a nice quality if i keep it on their ?
