Thinking of taking a punt on Aldis' c02 inflator today. Not used one before. Is there a maximum tube size a single 16g cartridge will inflate? I assume the cartridge body gets quite cold on discharge too. I use 35mm Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tour tyres at about 90psi. Keen to try them and the cost seems worth a shot just to see. Cheers Gez

They will inflate any tyre to around the recommended pressure. Mine will do an MTB tyre or road bike. MTB will of course be 30-40 PSI, road bike 100.

Worth the punt for the price.

A full 16g will get most bike tyres up to a usable pressure.

Don't ever touch the cartridge with bare fingers, I'd get one with a cover (dk if the Aldi one does)
I use a short length of a old 23mm inner tube over the cartridge as an insulation layer. It's still cold but stops skin coming off

And make sure you put the empty one back in your pocket . Not left on the bloody floor .

Oh and if you pop it on the floor as you refit the wheel. you'll find mud/grass and dirt all frozen to it.

Right just back and said inflator bought instructions fairly straightforward too. I am guessing that the cartridge and head unit can only be combined when I need to use the inflator? Neoprene sleeve seems quite thick too. Cheers Gez

I leave cartridges attached to my pump + carry a spare. But my main one is an old Ultraflate with a trigger and lock, my second bikes minimal kit is a lot like that one

Two things....

First of all the maths........ The number of p*nct*res will at some point be greater than the number of cartridges you carry (P+1)

Secondly have a look at the cartridges. There are several different types with screw fitting, push fitting and both of these will have variations of with in the neck

THe cost of replacement cartridges will vary according to this and some are easier to source than others

You might want to inflate the tyre slowly at first with just a dab or two. I split a fair few inner tubes when I first started using a CO2 inflator but not one since I became a little more patient!
