I have been looking at Canyon as a possible n+1, especially as they seem to get very good reviews (the bikes that is) and are good value for money. What bothers me is, what happens if you encounter a problem with the bike after taking delivery. If buying from Canyon, for example, you can hardly take it back to the shop for any problems to be rectified. So how do you go on? Any advice, experiences etc would be useful.

They do have a UK rep but I assume if there's a problem you'd have to send the bike / parts back. Presumably at their cost but your inconvenience

V good reason to buy local

You're stuck for a test ride before you even think about buying. I wouldn't spend even fifty quid on a car I couldn't try first, and certainly wouldn't do so on a bike .

I know of people waiting over 6 months for warranty issues to be resolved. I waited more than 6 months for my order to materialise, in the end I gave up. I won't be going back even if they have allegedly fixed their problems. Having problems is one thing, but dealing with every issue so badly is another, especially when they were taking orders for bikes they knew they could not deliver.

I waited 3 weeks for my 29er and it was worth it, well it would have been if I had known I was waiting. Another surprise present from the wife.

In all my years of buying bikes for myself and the family I have never taken one back under warranty, could be because I know how to fix them.

Thanks for all the replies..... I have to agree with most and feel that the LBS may be the best option. I realise others will disagree but it is what you feel safer with.

There are loads of sales on now. What's your max budget and desired spec? Where are you located?

I would be looking to spend up to a max of £3k and want a decent spec - Ultegra; lightweight carbon etc - but not for any high speed racing (not at my age!) just want to treat myself to a really nice bike!

I keep going back to Bianchi..... I am thinking I need to get myself to the bike show in September to have a good look at what is around.
