Hi

I'm looking to buy a new wheelset due to an unfortunate encouter with a pothole leading to dented rims. I have PlanetX London Road bike, the current wheels are Fulcrum Racing Sport DB, 6 bolt disc brakes and QR axle. I want to upgrade, probably spending around £250. The problem is that I don't know what's compatible and don't want to order online and get the wrong thing, I live in a small town so popping to the shop isn't an option (plus we're under lockdown).

Please can someone help with these questions, hopefully they will help me understand.
- Current bike is QR axle, if I'm replacing the whole wheel can I get thru axel? Will this be compatible with the forks?
- Does it matter if I get a centre lock or 6 bolt brakes?

Finally, if you can recommend a good wheelset please it would be really useful! I was looking at DT Swiss when I started encountering the above problems. I mainly use the bike for commuting and road cycling in my spare time around 30-70 miles.

Thank you

Look at Superstar Components. You can specify hub and axle type

I‘ve got these, noisy hubs tho!

You could get spa to build you some otherwise 👍

Unless you change the fork as well, you can't switch from QR to thru axle. And assuming you want to use (ie transfer) your current discs, it'd be straightforward to get 6-bolt hubbed replacements, on the KISS principle if nothing else.
If you do replace, bear in mind that the hubs of the current ones have residual value, and indeed, you could replace and relace new rims onto them.
