Could I ask for your opinions whether I should buy now or wait. I have been offered a Specialized Sirrus Comp 2009 for 610 - 620 ukp. Which is a good deal I believe. However it is near the end of the season and next years models will be coming out soon. In a couple of months time I will might see 'my bike' which now goes for about 685 ukp for much less. My question is will I regret paying 620 ukp for it in a couple of months time?

Thanks for the amazing quick reply Uncle Mort. My LBS has it in the correct size. I just need a good ride on it to make sure its right for me.

As Mort said, if you like it once you ride it go for it.... that way you dont have to wait 9 months to ride in the sunshine again. Bikes are like PC's or Mobile phones, as soon as you buy one its pretty much superceeded by the next set of models/technology anyway.

Go for it now and enjoy the summer.

I was told by a guy in the specialized concept store that the new 2010 model bikes will all be going up in price, and the current 2009 range will stay the same price once they have sold all stock as these will already be cheaper than the new 2010 bikes. So it might be worth just getting the 2009 model now as they probably won't drop in price

Interesting sales pitch, there maybe a grain of truth in it...

That said, waiting until September means that you miss out on a couple of months of cycling fun, best buy now...

As above, I'd buy now. You'll kick yourself if you wait until later in the year and then can't get your size.

Also pricing story may well be true as prices have gone up pretty much across the board due to the poor £ against Euro and Dollar.

Also you get all summer to ride it. In my experience buying a bike late in the year isn't a great idea as you are paranoid about getting salt and road crap in it. At least come winter it'll be a few months old and you won't be so worried!

Thanks for all your comments. I took the plunge and bought it with mudguards and a rack fitted for 643.89 ukp. I am picking it up tomorrow. One further request please. I am looking for a decent back light that fits to the rear of a standard rack and leaves the button is accessible. I might using the bike on fast unlit A roads at night. Any suggestions?

Thanks Paulus for the link. My local LBS only had ones that fixed to the seat post. Evens had at least three that suit me.
