I'm interested in buying wither a Trek 1.2 or a Specialized Allez.

Are there big price drops to 2009 bikes once the 2010 bikes are out?
What has happened in previous years?

Is it worth waiting, or will i only be saving £30-40

Spech wont be droping there prices for the 2009 bikes when the 2010 range come out. They are actually putting the prices up on the 2010 range, and keeping the 2009 bikes the same price untill all stock has gone as these are already cheaper than the new 2010 bikes. Apparently all the groupsets etc have gone up in price so they are up'ing the prices of the bikes too.

Well thats what I was told by a guy in the spech concept store.... I don't know about trek.

Don't know where the OP is from but when I phoned my Spesh LBS in Bath they hardly had any 2009 stock left. So you might have trouble gettin '09 stuff in the right size... Well, unless you happen to be the spawn of a hobbit or gandalf.

A pal of mine is looking around for a new bike and a big local shop has told him to wait until next month when new stocks come in, apparently there is not much stock left because the importers reduced their orders thinking sales would be poor in 2008. Sales were actually better than usual so there's nothing left. By then end of next month the remaining 2008 stock is expected to be discounted as well.

Buy now and get out there! No point in waiting for like £50 deduction (if your lucky) when you could be out on it already. Besides some models are going up in price...

Well again a visit to my local evans produced a nice surprise.
They're giving a 10% discount on all bikes bought before the end of the month. and 15% off accessories.

Trek 1.2 Double for £495 seems a pretty good deal to me..

I would agree, I spent ages trying to decide whether I should wait before finally going for a '09 bike. Looking at the trend year on year, the bikes aren't getting any cheaper and the kit isn't getting any better. Plus, you want to enjoy the bike for as much of the summer as possible right?

Buy now!

I was planing to buy in September when my bonus had come through, had chance to save, chance to really decide what I wanted etc, etc. In my deliberations I went into a shop, got chatting struck a pretty unbeatable deal. Thought about it for 2 hours and then bought it on the credit card. I know it'll be paid off by September AND I get a beautiful bike to enjoy all summer.

Oh and the rules of buying a bike mean that whenever and whatever you buy, approximately 2 months later you'll be lusting after something else anyway!
