Out yesterday just 3 of us cycling in a line when a bus driver swerved towards me missing me by an about 2 inches.
Gave him a mouthful----- caught up with him at the next bus stop, he accused us of holding him up on purpose.
Told him in we were dodging potholes not trying to hold him up.

Still really angry about it thinking of reporting him to his bus company" Arriva" and maybe even the Police.
Never got his Reg number.

What would you do?

Thanks

Report him.

I've always found Arriva to be ok, fwiw, which suggests that as a c ompany, they might take the safety of other road users seriously. If you're going to write, do it sooner rather than later, while there's a chance that they still have the bus' cctv (if it had cameras fitted).

Be aware that the company may not do much - I've rarely been thrilled with the responses I've had, but then my correspondence has been with Finglands, not Arriva. However, if you say nothing, nothing will be done for sure.

Write down everything you know about the incident - time, location, description of driver and what happened - while it's still fresh.

I think you should contact the company and the police. We owe it to ourselves to report abuse like this, if we don't protest dangerous driving nothing will change.

I only have to imagine how I'd feel if a driver treated someone I loved like that to find the motivation to do write the letter or make the phone call.

It's twunts like that who end up killing cyclists like us.

Report it. Time and place they'll be able to work out who it was. Then all the video on the bus (was it a fairly modern looking bus) will have captured everything.

This is what happened when I had an incident with an Arriva driver:

In summary, I ended up having a meeting with senior arriva staff, and driver got in an ass-ton of poo.

I got 'blown over' by a bus last year, was just passing a bustop/layby when the thing came flying past, it was one of the new 'quiet' buses I never heard it coming, it passed me with less then 2" to spare, the backdraught blew me into the layby just at the point where it curved back out, I managed to keep upright & swerve bcak out to avoid crashing into the curb, which caused the car coming ip behind me to swerve, much horn blowing, arm waving & rude gestures from him. I was less then 1/4 mile from home, totaly shaken up, I walked the rest of the way!!
I was on the phone as soon as home & calmed down, filled in a SMIDSY while on hold to police, I then contacted the bus compnay directly.

The driver later claimed that I had pulled out of the layby directly in front of him & I was dressed in black with no lights on, so he didn't see me until too late..
I had a flashing light on my helmet, one on my seatpost & I wear a red Altura Evo jacket with a flasher on the back pocket...August at 18.30 is hardly dark, glad it wasn't October then!!

No charges were brought as there was no real accident & i had no witness's to back up my story! But the policeman did say that it would stay on record & that if there were any other complinats or incidents involving that driver then my case could be used as 'proof of history'
