No fast way to help it subside, just have to let it do it's thing. I did try wearing a knee bandage but that didn't help much.

Rest, Ice, compression, Elevation.
Brufen and Paracetamol
It can take months for the fluid to disperse, if it doesn't then your GP might drain it for you but that runs the risk of a joint infection which is the last thing you want.

No rest for the wicked , just no kneeling ! It normally takes three or four weeks to go but im surprised at how soon it happened this time as I am very careful not to kneel down .
Luckly cycling doesn't seem to set it off but I am a little worried it may not do it any good while burstistisising .

It's not good on a knee. Had one on my wrist (ganglion) and the old wives tale of whacking it with a bible works - I used a table - whacked my wrist 'down' onto the table. Not really recommended as it stings, but it does work.

If there is no pain it should be ok. It's really important to keep taking the recommended dose of Paracetamol for at least a week. It takes that long to reach an effective dosage, just taking it for a day or so may give a short term relief of inflammation but that relief will be short lived. (Obviously, if you have any liver related health problems then Paracetamol may not be the best medication for you, check with your GP if your not sure).

Ice, lots of ice. I iced four times a day for 20 mins on and behind the knee. I had it recently with a lot of pain from whatever caused it and ended up having it drained and a cortisone injection. Your GP might do it but mine wouldn't and it took a referral to a specialist physio but I also had other problems. A&E might do it.

Im not sure whacking it will help , putting pressure on it is the cause so hitting it will make it worse ?
I'm not one to pop pills to be honest and it doesn't hurt . I guess if it will sort out the problem then I'll take the pills .

I got a huge one on my knee after fixing some flooring for a few days. It didn't hurt at all but it looked very odd. I got another on my elbow after whacking it on the edge of a door. That one looked quite gross but didn't hurt either. Both gradually subsided of their own accord. Good luck.

Just watch the use of any pain killers. Especially codeine. I've binned any pain killers unless necessary for some undercarriage related issues. Codeine has some nasty side effects to 'male' hormone production !

I fell off some ladders, caught my knee on a wall protrusion on the way down, ouch! I've cycled everyday since and played football several times, with zero pain but can I hell kneel down. That was 3+ months ago.

I didn't have a bible that was nearly hefty enough when I had a ganglion so I made do with the OES.

Sadly my ganglion never responded to either of those, or being injected. Ended up having to have it surgically removed (it prevented my left wrist from being in the permanent support it required at the time) and thankfully it has never come back.
