I was on the lookout for a new saddle and intended to spend around £35 to replace the 10 year old bog standard one on the bike. With so many different saddles available I decided to post a thread on here for advice. The vast majority of replies recommended the Brooks saddles and the majority was the B17. Looking at the Brook’s on line it looked rather old fashioned and over priced, but I decided to go with the recommendations, although I opted for the Pilot with extra springs rather than the B17 as the existing saddle had extra springing.
Managed to get it at Evans for £49.99 and fitted it Friday.
Did a short 10 mile run Friday not to bad? Saturday just short of 60 miles and a bit sore, was wondering if the saddle was the eight choices. Sunday 20 miles OK and today 50 miles completely pain free.
So it seems to be 140 miles and saddle seems to be broken in. Have to admit today’s cycle was one of the best as I could concentrate on the cycling and not my numb bum.
Will try it next weekend without padding. But have to say thanks to all who recomended the Brooks as visually it wouldn’t have been my 1st choice, interestingly it looks great on the bike.
Have to say thanks for the recocomendations and advice, had it not been for everyone’s input I would have wasted my money,
THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED

Really pleased you like the Brooks, and whilst I don't want to p**** on your strawberries, SJS Cycles are doing the B17 for £35. I'm just awaiting the arrival of mine.

Can you come and break in my black Team Professional for me? 200 miles so far and it's still like a hatchet. Its honey counterpart was a pussycat after 100 miles. Oh well, the Exmouth Exodus should soften it (or me) up.

I was looking at these on SJS earlier. Very very tempted but not sure if it would look daft on my road bike. Might get one and stick it on the hybrid. Could swap it quickly onto the road bike for longer rides once broken in. Same seatpost size so it would be very quick to swap it!
