Brooks saddle - is this normal?!

I got a brand new Brooks saddle a couple of weeks ago. Rode it 3 times (about 5-10 miles each time) with no problems until the fourth ride of 25 miles - and now it looks like it has worn down one side. The other side is fine and I have polished the underside of the saddle with proofide twice before this ride. Is this part of the breaking in process? Or is the leather faulty and should I send it back?

Although not a brookes my Spa Aire in black has the same effect after a bit of use, I put it down to wear from my shorts i.e friction. Proofhide covers it a bit then it comes back.

I agree that some clothing would have caused the abrasion, that or when your/cleaning/maintaining/storing it is getting scuffed.

I have four Brooks saddles and I wouldn't be very happy if mine looked like that after a few rides. I have a Brooks Professional that's covered thousands of miles and still looks like new

I don't have a brooks and doubt i ever will but i'd be very unhappy if something that expensive looked like that so soon!
