Hi, would-be Brompton riders!

I was just searching for the ITV4 TdF competitions and discovered that Brompton are also running a competition. 3 C-line TdF specials are up for grabs. The free competition closes at 6pm on July 21ST. Details HERE.

Good luck!

Ah, thanks - I searched to see if I could find any mention of it but it didn't come up. That would be because I searched for 'Brompton competition' rather than 'Brompton comp'!

Anyone had the email yet? I'm waiting (and hoping) for the notification of my win  Brompton said the draw would be August 1st with winners notified within 5 days - have I missed something? No news online that I can find....... someone (3) winners out there?

To add to my note above, there is still nothing suggesting the draw has been made - surely Brompton would have announced there have been winners, thus gaining useful publicity? I wonder (based on the statement the bikes will be sent to winner during November) if the draw date of August should read October - that would make more sense?

But it would be odd to wait 2 months after the Tour de France competition finished to make the draw. I can't see why they would delay it.

I contacted Brompton and received this reply:-

Thank you for contacting us here at the Brompton factory.

The draw for the Tour de France bikes was done in August, and the winners were notified.

Kind regards,

I'm surprised Brompton didn't use the opportunity to make an announcement!

It’s unusual.

Back in the day as part of my job we came up with on-pack promotions.

Anyway, every single competition meant that you legally had to have a phone number (pre internet) that people could ring or an address you could write to get a list of the winners’ names.

Obviously brought in to prevent unscrupulous companies pretending to run competitions and then not actually giving out prizes.

Maybe (and I don’t know this) the new GDPR rules prevent you from giving out people’s names.

There are often clauses in the terms of entry that state that they will feature you in promotions or communications if you win. You accept these conditions when you enter the competition.

They usually publish partial details...

Prize won by Colin J, West Yorkshire

(Not my prize this time though!)

I have won competitions where the winning entry looked like it would be used in an advertising campaign but I never saw that. I must do a search and see if I can track any down!
