Rear wheel? Drive side? I'd not (for 20 miles a day - a bit far) - I'd replace the spoke myself though you may find (on cheaper wheels) that you'll be having broken spokes fairly regularly on that wheel. Easy enouggh to replace them/true yourself, I guess I'm just saying bike shops can charge quite a bit (5 - 9 pounds) for this and you'll be visiting them fairly often

front wheel first one ive had in over 4000miles cant get to the bike shop till next weekend either to buy a replacement looks like i will have to be lazy and get the bus to work so are the whells cheapy then or could it of snapped since putting skinny tyres on and state or roads etc

What wheels are they?

No-one can really say if they are cheap (poor quality or not) because one spoke has snapped without knowing what the wheel (or what type of wheel) is, freak accidents happen, even on the best equipment there is the possibility for something going wrong. Less likely but it can happen.

The roads are a mess recently though, maybe you hit a pot hole?

Specialized Stout 26 inch, Double wall disc, Pinned, Eyelets, 28/32 hole rims after reading up a lot are saying there a cheap wheel so could be the problem

if its a front wheel replacing the spoke is a doddle, just take the broken one to the bike shop and get one the same length replace and true as per many articles on the interweb - should cost you about 70p

Buy a few of the same size if it's rear, drive side. Once one goes, I've found that a few more will ping soon.

...in the meantime, personally I'd have no problems riding with one broken spoke for a week (assuming the others are sound). In my iggerant yoof, I routinely did it for months on end. How did your 'attempt at truing it' go?
