bristol raise awareness thingy...last friday etc etc

...so there i was on me way home tonight then i come across a load of cyclists blocking the road....i asked some bird what it was all about and learnt that every last friday of the month they all get together and cycle really slowly to raise awareness for cyclists...apparently this happens all over the world? was she pulling me leg or what?...does this make a difference? i'm not so sure - it probably just antagonises drivers imo

Happens in cities all over the UK as well as worldwide.
Yes it antagonises motorists, so much so that one plowed through loadsof cyclists in Brazil

Misguided IMO. After all what would your reaction be if on the way to / from work in the rain you were stuck behind a group of car drivers who totally blocked the road and drove along at 2mph ? A well organized event causing no disruption but demonstrating the speed and ease with which a cyclist can simply avoid the traffic jams etc might do more good.
