Which brake do you use the most? I use the front one alone for about 80% of my braking. I only use the rear one for more severe braking. Is this the right thing to do?

I generally use them both together.

However after checking my rims the other week and noticing the back one being significantly more worn than the front (had harder pads on it) I'm trying to consciously slow only with the front to try and get a bit more life out of it.

I use the front the majority of the time, although I sometimes use the rear to slowly knock off small amounts of speed as needed. Not much ice around here this year, so I haven't had any issues with traction.

Front brake is where the real stopping power is, rear is good for modulating your speed - and, where the conditions are slippy, rear gives you better control. In an emergency, front brake does all the real work as the weight comes off the back wheel.

Front brake mostly, I do most of my miles on the fixed so its front brake with a little bit of leaning against the fixed, unless I know its slippery then I will only use the back brake and combine it with leaning against the fixed.

Front for stopping (unless there is a particular reason not to, like slippery road surface), back for controlling speed.

i use them both together if i need to brake hard if its light braking i use rear beak coz if the back skids i can recover but if i lock the front wheel its gonne end in one way so i dont pull the front brake much alone.

I always use the back brake, but call in the fronts when I need to stop in an emergency. I've always done it that way, even since my BMX days as a kid.

quite shicked reading this, I've always been told both and always been told using front alone was dangerous cos you could go over handle bars etc.. and that reason just stuck  I'm gonna try just front more often as it seems right way to go
