While fighting to re-toe in my pads this evening I had a great idea.
I've always had trouble getting the amount right and equal while trying to keep the pad square on the rim. I've tried bit of card under one end of the pad, cocktail sticks all sorts.
Instead tonight I used a new cable-tie! With the 'ratchet' end up, it fits between pad and rim perfectly, the ratchet tab stopping it falling through. Then you're free to pull the brake on with the lever and tighten up the nut with the other without having to have a third hand to hold the pad!
Use a smaller/larger tie for more/less toe.
Just thought I'd share. Although ill probably find lots of others have better ideas!
