Brake Pad Sizes?

Hi,

New here. I've not long purchased a road bike, an old Raleigh. Unsure of model. I'm sure it was a bargain at £40 just needs a clean up. Anyway my question is are all brake pad sizes the same? My bike is at home and I'm at uni 200 miles away so can't measure the ones currently on it. I'm hoping to buy everything I need for it before I go home so I can fix it and get on the road ASAP.

No, they are not!

I have Campagnolo groupsets on both of my road bikes and the brake blocks are not compatible between them, and they are also different to the Shimano ones on my mates bike.

One solution would be to buy bargain replacement blocks along with replacement shoes to suit from Disco Brakes - here. In future you could just buy that type of block.
