Arrrr why can't anything be straightforward! I'm just getting rid of my 1980's 3 speed because I can't get the cotter pins out (but that's another story)

I've had my felt f95 for almost 12 months and just changing the brake pads for the first time. 3 pads no problem but the screw holding the 4th one in place is completely stripped of anything to turn it with - it should be turned by a small allen key. This was the case before I even started so I'm assuming this happened during the assembly. Anyway my point was there's noone to complain to but looking at how this might be removed -- I've tried with some pliers but there's very little protruding head to get hold of and the screw is very soft.

Taken a few days off and my main priority was getting my bike ready for winter but I have fallen at the first hurdle! Any thoughts much appreciated....

it's out! I found 'old faithful' a set of very rusted but good pliers. But not before I stupidly gave myself the mother of all blood blisters on my thumb
Just looking for another retaining screw but can't work out what I'm looking for online 'brake pad retaining screw' doesn't seem to throw up anything useful - any ideas where I might pick up one of these?

Is this the little grub screw that goes in the pad holder? Normally/sometimes a set of pads comes complete with replacement screws (top left of pic below).

Or you could replace the holders as well as the blocks.

Edit: In case any screw pedants are lurking, it's not really a grub screw is it. It has a head. But it's a bit grubby.

Edit edit. Unless you plan on braking hard while rolling backwards you shouldn't really need the screw. But I personally have never tried that, so don't take that as a recommendation!

Don't waste your money. Any bike shop will have dozens of those little screws in a box behind the counter. If I wasn't at the other end of Africa I would post you a couple this evening.
