Hi guys.

I have recentley purchased a Kona Jake 2010. (cyclocross)
I need to replace he brake pads as the Kore Sport ones are rubbish.
I have noticed that the Kool Stop Salmon pads are well recommended, but I am not sure which ones to purchase. (to many options)

Any one offer me some advice please?

I've got the dual compound on the front and Salmon on the back. They are a LOT better than the ones shipped with the bike.

Thanks for advice.

I am confused with the type to purchase. they seem to come in all shapes and sizes but I am unsure exactly which will fit?

You would think there was a direct replacement, nut I am unable to find one

I have a Kona Jake The Snake 2009. Same frame, different paint job.

I agree the brake pads are rubbish so i replaced them with some mountain bike brake pads i had lying around. In fact, they were carbonfibre brake pad holders for V-brakes. Even though they are designed for a 26 inch wheel and the Jake has 28 inch (700C) wheels they work fine as far as i'm concerned. Also, I think the longer pad helps to reduce any brake shudder that may occur.

I'm nipping out so i'll get a photo uploaded this evening. I can't see that you really need the ones you mentioned.

Hi Kev

I don't want to be pedantic, but i just want to clear things up. In your original post you refered to 'Kore Sport' - this is the name of the particular brand of brake caliper (the metal part that holds the brake pads, and is pulled by the brake cable therefore pressing the brake pad to the wheel rim) that you have. I'll take it you're not on about replacing the calipers, but just the brake pads. In which case many pads will fit.

Here's a link to Halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_249200_langId_-1_categoryId_165608

£6 a pair and a lot better than those you have. Personally, i'd pay a bit more. (Got to be quick i'm being called away) I definitely recommend longer pads like these.
