i recently purchased a pair of formula rx brakes and while tightening the pivot bolt it snapped i have ordered a replacement but cant get the old one out there is no pinch bolt and it spins freely but wont come out any advice much appreciated.
thanks for the advice. You need to dismantle it from the piston plunger to release the lever - from what I remember from when I did one of these you need to put a small allen key in the end of the piston plunger - part 21 on the diagram https://www.rideformula.com/wp-content/uploads/manuals/en/769) and unscrew this all the way. That will release the lever and the barrel/pivot. It's a bit fiddly getting it back in but patience pays
Yes it is the silver bolt with the Allen key headThanks, the better photos do help.
Is my take on this correct: you cannot get the pivot bold, which, as in the middle photo above, has a hex socket cap i.e. the silver allan-keyed bolt in the centre? Is that correct?
Further, if the above is how I see it, does then hex bit then just turn without coming out? Yes/No?
Just to jump the gun a bit in case you say yes to both, those pivots usually have the screw thread on the end of the thin bit. But I'll explain once I'm sure the above is the problem.
OK then. I suspect it is just held in place by magic, or an O-ring or something. Try gently punching it out.Yes it is the silver bolt with the Allen key head
And the Allen key just turns it round
The end that is stuck is the female boltOK then. I suspect it is just held in place by magic, or an O-ring or something. Try gently punching it out.
Can you confirm that the other end that broke off has a screw thread on the end and then morphs into a blank shaft as it goes toward the hex end?

I love it when a plan comes together. So what held it in place in the end?I managed to sort the issue by using a g clamp a parallel punch and a socket to push the bolt out.
I don’t know exactly but I think the top of the female bolt was expanded in some way by the bolt stuck in it .I love it when a plan comes together. So what held it in place in the end?
