Hi and :welcome:

The 'drop' you mention is the distance from the mounting hole to the rim - generally speaking, if you've got mudguard clearance you'll need 57mm drop. Measure down from the middle of the brake mounting hole to the middle of the rim, and there you go.
I will say, though, that most brake callipers are pretty good these days. I personally wouldn't upgrade brake callipers - brake blocks, certainly, get some Koolstop Salmons on there, or any decent block rather than the standard black sort.
I have slowed from 60 mph going down Mont Ventoux on Sora calipers, which are bottom-of-the-range Shimano. No drama whatsoever.

Hi

Are you sure the Sirrus Comp has caliper brakes and not v-brakes? According to spesh website the 2010 model has v-brakes. Sorry if you are already sure but the only reason I looked on the website was because hybrids don't normally have caliper brakes. Maybe it's different in the case of your bike/s

Cheers,
