Hi all ,
I am having a problem with a front 501 caliper , I have taken it off cleaned it , and it's working nice and springy but as soon as I tighten it back into the frame it won't work properly , like it's seized

Could you add a photo to show the exact model you have?

Might trigger some thoughts.

Sounds really strange - the calliper comprises of three main components and the one you mount to the frame is fixed and simply provides pivot points for the other two - no matter how tight you bolt it in, it shouldn't affect the motion (still, there is a recommended torque).

Instruction manual: https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-RACBR01-02-ENG.pdf

If it all works fine in hand but not when installed on the bike - which is my understanding here, my first guess would be that you overtightened the bolts on the pivot points. There are parts of the bike when you can get away with not using a torque wrench, brakes aint one of them.
