Brake caliper choices

Hi,

I have to replace the brake calipers on my road bike. What are my best options. Budget is tight...ish.

105, TEKTRA, ULTEGRA, SORA.........etc.etc

Which ones are the best and why!

Are they short drop? i.e. on bike with no mudguard clearance ?
If so, Sora, Tiagra, 105, Ultegra .... just whatever you can afford less £20 cos you'll want to change the pads to Koolstops
Longer drop... R450 or R650 if you can afford, same goes for the pads.

Stick to Shimano around Tiagra level (ie + 105 or -Sora). The stock pads will work but others will work better.
