Brake Cables

Just wondering, i have an old road bike so it has a set of old brake levers, the dual ones!

Anyway cables are slowly fraying and was thinking about replacing them, would any of today's cables fit the brake levers as they are an old set of cables on the bike at the moment.

Was thinking of getting this kit

If you just want to replace old for new using new levers and new cables then no problem. If you're just replacing the cables [and removing the "extra" levers from the old ones] then the new ones should still fit ok.
Just check the shape of the cable nipple matches and all should be well.

Thanks for the information. They are i believe pear shaped ones, bought a set online today.

Poundland (in Birmingham) have front inner brake cables at the moment. I don't think they're much more than that anyway.

universal brake cables come with two different nipples at each end - one for road bike brakes (top), t'other for mtb (lower). you cut off the one that you do not need for fitting.
