Brake Blocks

My blocks are wearing and will probably need replacing soon, I have never paid much attention to this before and was wondering if anybody has any advice on what type to buy and why.
I usually just let my LBS fit whatever they normally use from stock. Noticed a thread on here a while back (cant find it now) where some salmon coloured blocks were mentioned and it got me thinking about it.
In short does it make much difference what I fit, thanks.

i use Koolstop salmons and on the old retro bikes i ride then yes well worth fitting , cant remember where i normally get them from but Wiggle do them and you might get a free pack of Haribo's

I use the Koolstop Salmon pads too and they work really well in the wet which living in Scotland is what the majority of the weather is like! Lol
