I intend to bleed the brakes on my Cube (shimano M455). I have been reading up on the process. Can anyone explain why the new fluid is syringed in from the caliper end? Wouldn't is make more sense to use the same process as a car? Attach a tube to the caliper bleed nipple, making sure the bottom is immersed in a container of fluid. Open the bleed nipple, and use the brake lever to pump the new fluid through.Keep the master reservoir topped up via the screw in syringe.

I would be thanks

Well you can do it that way and I have.

If you use the 2 syringe method you end up with a better bleed as the hoses are much narrower its harder to get all the air locks out first time. I think the term is a 'positive bleed(?)' as you are forcing the fluid in and air out. You can also do it this way on a car system.

It's also much less messy and quicker doing it the 2 syringe way and you loose less fluid. You can get the kit from ebay for about a tenner.

Make sure you use the right fluid too as some systems use a mineral oil rather than a Dot fluid.

Hope that helps
