I wrote a thread back in September "20 miles and lessons Learnt", since then i have been doing regular 30 mile and 35 mile routes in and around and very near to Boxhill, spurred on by the great comments and inspiration from the forum and its members. With a day off the Sun shinning and Boxhill frowning at me from only 2 miles away i decided what could be a better time to go where many others have gone before...So i did and have to say "what was all the fuss about "...Just joking...
I have to admit i did struggle a little and at times a lot, but made it loved it and carried on for another twenty miles or so.after .
Leith Hill watch out i am coming

Box Hill is a great benchmark, and if you're on Strava, you'll see over 4000 recorded climb times. Very motivating.

Well done that man.

I love climbing Box Hill. It's not a tough hill to climb. But it's a good one to cycle. It has a reputation for being tough but it's undeserved.
Get in a good gear and away you go.

My first ride on Box Hill will be the London 100 next August. Planning to drive that way on my home from Gatwick in December but won't be able to take the bike.

I thought I'd have a look to see what the fuss is about. I can then find a climb to practice on in the Brecon Beacons which are on my doorstep.

Nice one :bravo:

Boxhill rewards you with a great view and some excellent tarmac. A decent enough climb and not too steep, as to discourage you. After you have tackled Leith, make your way directly to Whitedown

Assuming you are tackling Leith from the South / West, then the descent down Coldharbour Ln is the stuff dreams are made of. Did it again last Friday and it always makes me grin ear-to-ear.

Coldharbour Lane is less than a mile from my front door, contemplated going up turning around and coming back down again...will do it soon...We go that way a lot to walk our Hound Dog..Great views ..

Yebbut, if you're considering Leith... then you get to come down Coldharbour, by default! Check it out - a section of my ride on Friday...
Approached from the South and followed through C/H, down into Dorking.
