Spectator capacity at Box Hill for road cycling race to be increased to 15,000 (from 3,500).


Does anybody know how will tickets/passes be given out?

It's National Trust property so thay can shut to all and sundry if they like.

So, another 11,500 tickets go on the market, this will make box Hill an even more exciting place to watch the action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, given that it was virtually impossible to see anything during the Surrey Classic with less than 3000 people there, I struggle to see how quadrupling the number will make the experience any better.

I will be watching elsewhere.

more importantly it is a SSSI, and uncontrolled trampling could cause major damage

And in other news, the road is being resurfaced in April. Which is nice.

You could, but not on Box Hill. And the roads will be shut from around 6 a.m., including for bikes, so no chance of riding up either. It's not like "any other road race". Ever been to a Worlds RR? Pay to get in - no discussion!
