Hey guys, on my last few rides I've had a noise from below

Not very loud and I presumed it was from the chain rubbing on the front derailer as it needs adjusting and does touch very slightly on the bottom cog

I thought I would have a fiddle tonight and soon came to realise it isn't the chain

The best way I can describe it is as if there is grit or sand in the bottom bracket

If I take the chain of it is quieter but still there

Any ideas

I'll try and upload a video if I can but it's not as obvious to hear as it is in person

I just finished oiling the chain and cables with the bike upside down, after I had finished there was no noise no grinding nothing, I thought great until I out the bike back in its wheels and it's bloody grinding again

The best way to check the bb is to shift the chain off and spin the chainset by holding a crank arm not the pedals. If you can feel grinding/rough sensation then it is the bb. Separately you can of course try spinning the pedals in relation to the crankarms to check the pedals.

Definitely not the pedals mate, I've pretty much done exactly what you suggested, I can't feel any grinding only hear it and it's only when I spin the crank slowly

I've done some googling and it says grit and grime can get into the spindle (not sure I'm using the correct term here) and to take the crank off and give it a good clean

I would do this myself but don't have enough experience to know if what I've read is correct or not
