Hi there

First time poster longer time stalker of other threads.

My trek has recently developed a horrible metallic clicking noise whenever I get out of the saddle and put any pressure on the pedals. Ive deduced that the bottom bracket may need replacing but having bought the bike second hand (And also being very technically dumb on repairs and parts) ive no idea what I should be looking to buy.

Can anyone assist me with what I should buy? Im a bit poor at the moment so cheaper the better

Thanks in advance

Jim

We'll need a bit more info. What kind of crankset is it? Which model bike and how old? The answers to these will help identify which kind of bottom bracket. Of course, just telling us the type of bottom bracket is even better, but that may be tricky. Pictures will be useful.

I had the same thing with my madone 2.1 and was moaning about it on a club ride when someone suggested my cleats! Turns out the cleats were the source of my woes, after removing the bolts one at a time, greasing them and refitting I tried it out and . . . Silent running! Worth a try as it's a much cheaper way to start than buying a new BB

Ive uploaded a couple of pics of the bottom and the left crank to hopefully help out. And thanks for the suggestion Ccchicane but im sure its not the pedals as its made the noise when ive put pressure on it without wearing my shoes
