I was asked by a neighbour, wether I could stop his pedal arm wobble. Bring the bike over I said, and I will have a look. I soon realised that it was the age old problem of the older style loose cups coming loose and undone so that the separate chain set spindle was not being held in place properly and that the cages of bearings were probably damaged. Knowing I already had a spare set, I set about removing the crank arms. Once removed, I could see that the crank side cup had been put in on a squint, so that the threads were now crossed. What really stopped me doing any more to the bike, was that the design of the cup for tightening and removal. It was like nothing I have ever seen before. None of my usual tools were going to fit. Instead of the normal multiple flanged fitting, or the older type flattened edges, this had eight much larger flanges. the nearest thing I could liken it too would be an old fashioned single speed sprocket removal tool. I have had a search around on the net and couldn't find any mention of this type of fitment at all. Has any one else come across this before, and any suggestions about how to remove it. FYI the bike was branded SALCANO. Apparently imported from Turkey. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Sorry, my camera has gone on the fritz. Best I can describe it is that it looks similar to the Unior freewheel removal tool, but with 8 segmented fitting blocks, instead of the Unior 4 flange tool. Defo not Campag !

I was going to suggest a FAG BB, but that only has six tabs. Without a pic, you'll only get guesses.
