Bottom bracket advice?

I need a Shimano UN53 68 x118, and all I can find is UN54 118, Will the UN54 fit the same as the 53? I know the 118 is the axle length.

I'm guessing size. Either diameter or length.

The UN52 and UN53 have been discontinued and replaced by the direct replacement UN54. Don't take my word though, see Here

I guess if the earlier ones are for sale then they are new old stock.

Same dimensions, but I believe the higher numbers indicated better quality (and higher price).
