Bottom bracket adapter - will it let water in?

I've just replaced my bottom bracket with a Shimano BB UN55 the same size as the original which was a Chinese Chin Taur or something. Everything seems fine, but I'm wondering about the "seal" between the adapter and the main body of the bottom bracket. I've tightened to the specified torque, 50-70Nm. It's difficult to tell, but I think there might be a slight gap between the adapter and the main body, or maybe not. It feels like a rubber seal or something would help. I did put some grease behind the adapter to see if any was squeezed out, and I'm not sure. However, the adapter did seem to make a positive contact, in that there was resistance as if it had met the main body.

I know some people drill a hole in the bottom of the frame to let water out, but I'm not sure that would be a good idea with an Aluminium frame?

Thanks for any suggestions.
