Hello everyone, back on the bike again after a 10 year abscence!!! I have a '653' Ribble frame that I had made for me years ago but want to use it and upgrade (on the cheap!!) as I go along. My question is, at present I have a Shimano 105 ,7 speed groupset on it. I have just acquired some STI levers that are 10 speed, can I use these with the 7 speed cassette, or do I need to get a 10 speed straight away (i.e can they be adjusted to just run the 7?) I will get a 10 speed as I have found I can't climb hills like I used to!! Sorry if it's a stupid question!

Hi there. I have a 7 speed groupset, but it has downtube shifters. I've got some STI levers but they are 10 speed. Can I use them on the 7 speed, or do I need to get a 10 speed cassette straight away?
