Have you all seen Boris' 2013 Cycling Festival? 35,000 racing on the 100mile circuit?

Are we forming a CC train? ​

excellent - at least two day's disruption - that should get the petrol heads frothing at the mouth.

how will this work? Cycling isn't the same as road running events, where you don't need a licence, hence you can compete in events alongside world class athletes. Is this going to be a sportive or a race. If it's a race will you need a BC race licence?

I do like the idea of this, but i imagine i'll be put off by the £50+ entry fee.

Think the plan is for a proper (pro) race followed by thousands of mixed ability a bit later. Remember Boris has to get elected this year, so anything that brings him publicity without too much detail and commitment to actually do anything helps, or so he may think. My money's on a return of Red Ken.
