Intriguing, but I can't help feeling that doing this on the same day as the Etape Caledonia will depress numbers. I also wonder how a large, slow, peleton is going to work if the roads are open to traffic. I can't help thinking this is going to irritate quite a few drivers.

It could do, but the Etape Caledonia's been full for a long time. It's different although I'd agree about the irritated drivers bit.

For me, being in a big bunch following a car across the countryside doesn't seem to appeal ...

Sounds an interesting idea. But like you say same weekend as the EC (and the Fred and the Bealach na Ba too) so tough competition for a new sportive

Anyone signed up for it from here? Thinking about going for it, but transportation could be an issue so wondering if anyone fancied sharing a minibus or something, in the event that me and a pal enter.

Saying that, while I got the payment provider email, I've not heard back from the organisers yet - have you?

I might be interested in this - it sounds an interesting format, the number limit seems just about right, and the entry fee seems to be good value compared to other rides. I had been planning on riding a 600km audax that weekend but given my lack of cycling so far this year I've had to revise my plans - mind you if this snow carries on the way it has been then it might still be here in May! I'll keep you posted re whether I'll be there or not.
