Hi Everyone,

Could anyone please recommend a nice book or journal designed for recording cycle rides ?

I'm looking to record information such as route, distance, weather conditions, time taken etc.

Something similar to the Rapha one (http://www.rapha.cc/index.php?page=205), although that is a little over the top.

It has to be a book and I'm not interested in software or websites that records rides.

I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest something.

The Rapha one is the only one I've heard of, but at that price you'd be better off hiring someone to memorise the details...
Maybe a notebook of some sort - or something designed for accounting, with all columns, boxes and stuff? Have a shufty round Staples or somewhere...

Perhpas design your own tour log? I carried a simple A4 sheet with me which had basic 'fields' pre printed such as date, distance, destination, and a place for comments etc. I just drew it up in a word doc then doubleside printed up the pages and got 2 weeks on two sheets of paper. Mostly just a memory jog for the time when i eventually get around to writing up the tour.

That's not quite how I remember it, VN:-

"Good morning", says the Lecturer.

The arts students fold up their newspapers;
"Good morning, Sir", reply the science students;
The engineering students write it down.

You might want to consider a surveyor's notebook, like the ones here:

the 'Collimation Level Book' has various lines and columns in it which may suit you (although it is a bit bulky for touring as it's A5 and a good inch thick). They are good books, I use one for levelling and general fieldwork at work

There are also waterproof notebooks sold by them but these are only lined. Suitable for a UK tour at any time of year ;)!

Moleskine do some nice notebooks that could be pressed into service (maybe the diary type, or the squared notebook? The pocket size is quite compact too.

As for the Rapha one, blimey.
