The death has been announced of Maria Mendiola aged 69, one half of the singing due Baccara who had a huge hit with the disco classic ‘Yes sir I can boogie’ in the late seventies. It was later covered by other artists. It was also revived last year and adopted as Scotland's unofficial anthem at the Euro 2020 football tournament.
