Here for rides.
He has a small point and is entitled to express it. The want is in the way he expresses it and the conflation of views on separate subjects. Ninja's abound in that part of the world, and some of the roads, and road users on them, are a little 'hostile' even when cyclists are bedecked with full Xtmas lights and hi-viz. The cycle paths are garbage though.

Oddly enough I'm off to the West Sussex Cycle Forum meeting this evening, I'll take a copy of this article along!

That'll be the cycle lane that doesn't exist in Bognor Regis until you are out of the town and into the dark countryside (after North Berstead), and then it is a single path to hold bi-directional cycle and pedestrian traffic?

It's also narrow (looks less than 1m in places), tree-lined and bumpy. What cyclist capable of riding over walking pace would want to use that?

Pedestrians tend not to wear lights or hi'viz, so cyclists would be better advised to use the ample road.

Better to write to him at the council, and to the paper's editor than just post on the paper's web site.

The man is clearly ill-informed with no practical knowledge of cycling. He needs to be educated.

Somebody local call his bluff. Publicly invite him on a cycle to find out what is wrong with the cycle paths.

Looking at his photo he is a health time bomb waiting to happen and is going to be a drain on local NHS resources. He is the perfect advert for why people should cycle.

Trouble is, looking at the picture, you'd need the paramedics on standby. And thats just for when he's climbing onto the saddle.

“It probably will not be their fault because the cyclist will have been on the road.”

I attended a council meeting at which a local councillor asked the police representative if the police could get cyclists off the roads and on to cycle paths. The police officer said they could not, and informed the councillor of cyclists entitlements. Then the chairman gave another three people the opportunity to speak and each ridiculed the councillors request in their own way. Highlight of the meeting it was.^_^

Did anyone point out to the councillor that it's far easier to ban motor vehicles from a public right of way than to extinguish it and replace it with a "special road"?
Or that it would have far greater benefits to safety
