Hi All!I'm a newby to this forum, i've been riding nothing but fixed for 3 years whilst in glasgow (2 years) and london (1 year) but have managed to get a servia addiction to vintage bike frames too and now am looking to get involved in some more... whats the word... up and down/ long journy cycling!

My questions lies with an amazing find i purchased of ebay a week ago, a Bob Jackson 1985 Jubilee Edition. It's a real stunner as you'll see.

In all honesty i bought this to sell on as i new the price i got it for was a steal.
How ever having got on it and ridden it i'm struggling to part with it now... Although i have another beauty waiting to be built up...

So as you can see (i'm very lucky) and i really want to invest my time in to the hetchins.
So i'll be looking to sell the Bob Jackson at some point but in all honesty, i don't really know what this will be worth. Theres relatively no information on the net, even Bob Jackson them selves could only tell me the date it was made and that it coincided with the Reynolds jubilee as well! Does any one have any ideas?
Everything except the seat is original!

There is a little rust on the Chain stay, Seat stay and bottom bracket houseing, but apart from that imaculate!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Can't help you on your question I am afraid, bur welcome to the forum, anyway!

I suspect it's not worth as much as you'd imagine. Firstly there's the inalterable fact that it's a 'gate', (the proper term for a frame over 25") - less than one percent of the population will be able to get their leg over it. Secondly it's not really old enough, rare enough or historically significant to be of any interest to collectors.

I'm afraid that the bargain you bought it for might be what you'll get for it.

The Hetchins on the other hand - thats a gem.

Can I ask what you paid for the BJ? I've searched completed listings on ebay and I can't fnd it anywhere. What size is it? Measure from centre of BB to top of seat tube, (not seatpost).
Nice looking bike, but the Hetchins is an awesome loking thing, I could hang that on my wall and just look at the detailing on the lugs for hours

I paid £180 for the bike.
The only one i can find is a past auction on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.ph/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=159000&item=170623671409

with 753 tubing though...

The bb to seat tube is 24 and a half inchs.

It is fine piece of machinery with campag drop outs etc... I'd like to think it might possibly make a little over £200?

I'm still tempted to keep it. But like Mickle said... It's a Huge frame! But still my hetchins is yerning out for some love.

I did think to take some of the parts of and selling the frame just with head set and bottom bracket and using some of the parts on the hetchins but i know i wont get as much for a frame as i would a full working bike?

Hmmmm

Tp, you could potentially get more for the bike in bits as opposed to a full bike. There may be components people want who aren't going to buy a full bike, and there are probably people who want this sort of frame but can't be @rsed buying a full bike and stripping everything off of it.

Just a thought

Good Call!

Well this would suit me more on the perspective that i want to use the wheels (New tyres) for the hetchins, how ever the cranks, gears, stem, breaks, frame, headset, BB, pedals can all go! Hmmm... I guess it's worth just going for it either way. If i list it with a lot of information i would imagin there might be quite alot of interest!
