Hi,

First post here, I've got a Boardman URB 8.9 which I love the look of, but I don't like the Alfine 8 hub. Was thinking to remove and fit a 1 x 11 SRAM groupset but worked out it would cost a minimum of £400 to do as new wheels are also required. I'm wondering if it's worth doing. I've already spent roughly £200 with new tyres, grips, saddle and a hub service from a Shimano certified bike shop (I purchased the bike 2nd hand just before lockdown).

I could sell the bike on for a nice profit but I do love the look of it just don't like the hub gears.

You will find another bike you like/love the look of. This change can be made but will cost, disproportionately. There'll be someone else really chuffed to find a hub geared bike (especially one which has had tlc and servicing, evidenced). And you can buy a bike with the gears you want. HTH
