Boardman Road Race v Specialized Allez Compact v CB Roubaix

Hi,

I currently have a hybrid and am looking to upgrade to an entry level road bike. I have discussed with my local bike shops and the following look to be the leading contenders in my price bracket:
  • Boardman Road Race (approx £660)
  • Specialized Allez Compact (£550 for 2013 model due next couple of months)
  • Claude Butler - Echelon £480, Roubaix £550
  • Schwinn Fastback £600 ish
Grateful for any thoughts or advice as to which would be the best bet
Alternatively, are there better bikes out there in my price range???

Cheers
Michael

Of those, Boardman and Specialized are both good choices. I don't know too much about the Schwinn, but looks a little overpriced for the spec. Also look at the Trek 1.1 or 1.2.

I wouldn't say a word against the allez, as I have one which is a couple of years old now. It might be worth looking for discounts on this year's model, rather than the new one though.
